Goldman Sachs Appoints Ben Snider as Equity Chief

Date:

Snider takes over from veteran strategist David Kostin

Goldman Sachs has named Ben Snider as its new chief U.S. equity strategist. Snider, who has been with the firm since 2010, will succeed longtime strategist David Kostin, who plans to retire at the end of the year, according to an internal memo obtained by Reuters.

Snider will now lead the U.S. Portfolio Strategy team and will represent Goldman’s equities outlook in media appearances and client discussions. He was promoted to managing director in 2017 and has steadily risen through the firm’s ranks.

Kostin transitions into advisory role after long tenure

David Kostin, a prominent figure at Goldman Sachs since 1994, will assume the role of advisory director. He was named managing director in 1998 and became a partner in 2010. Kostin is widely recognized for his insights on equities and his frequent appearances in financial media.

He also contributed to the creation of the Goldman Sachs Hedge Industry VIP ETF, a product that tracks hedge funds’ most popular stocks. According to the memo, Kostin will collaborate with Snider during the transition to ensure continuity in strategy and communication.

Leadership changes continue at Goldman

This announcement follows another recent retirement at the firm. On Tuesday, Goldman Sachs revealed that Fadi Abuali, co-chief of its Middle East and North Africa operations, will also step down. These shifts reflect broader changes within the bank’s leadership team as it enters a new strategic phase.
